Firestorm Alaskan Malamutes began in 1989, howver, my roots started in 1976 when my parents gave me my first show dog. That was CH. Tuyak's Little Thunderstorm "Stormy". Stormy was bred by Norma & Ed Altman. She put me on the path to loving the Alaskan Malamute and the passion of the show ring. In 1989 I got my next show dog CH. Veebee's Gypsy Ruffles ROM "Wendy". Wendy was bred by Gail and Lewis Von Baden. Wendy produced a number of Champions. In 1994 I had to quit breeding and showing, however, my love for the breed and the show ring never ended. In 2003 I got my next show dog, this is CH. Wild Wind's Gunnen For Glory "Sassy". Sassy is the princess of the house. In 2006 she produced a litter for us that 3 of the 7 puppies finished out of. Unfortuately in 2008 when we bred her again she pyo'd and had to be spayed. In 2005 along came Hailey CH. Wild Wind's Shooting Star. Hailey started off her show career with a bang. At 6 months old going winners bitch and Best of Opposite over a special for her first point. She finished with 3 majors and was Reserve Winners Bitch at the 2006 Regional in Knoxville. Sadly in early 2007 Hailey was diganosed with a genetic heart disease called SAS. Hailey was retired at that point and is in a wonderful pet home. She runs the house, goes on vacation and is perfectly spoiled rotten. In 2006 we produced our first home bred champion in 13 years CH. Firestorm's Kiss This "Gabby". Two other puppies in that litter also have completed their championships CH. Firestorm's Trickster of Fenrir "Loki" and CH. Firestorm's Master Chief "Halo". In 2007 we added Kumata's In Your Dreams "J.J." to our home. J.J. is out of CH Wolf Wind's Pretty In Pink "Julia "and CH. Aluk Building A Dream WWPD "Karl". J.J. is named J.J as she is the spitting image of her mother so Julia Junior. Watch for J.J. this winter in a ring near you. In 2008 we added a baby boy to our household. This is Aluk 'N Firestorm's Ace In The Hole "Gambler". Gambler was bred by Mike Chilinski and is out of CH. Canute's U Talking To Me and Aluk's Wildcat. Watch for Gambler this winter. We at Firestorm do not breed for quantity as you can see 1 litter in 13 years. We breed for quality and the betterment of the Alaskan Malamute. Alaskan Malamutes are not for everyone they can be destructive if bored, they are diggers, and independent, and they shed, yet they can be the sweetest most loving dog around, If a malamute graces you with it's love there is no stronger dog. If you are looking for a watch dog though the malamute is not for you. We are planning another breeding this spring with our Gabby, however, we have yet to determine her stud.
