So you think you want a malamute

 

Malamutes are not for everyone. They are very hairy (as pictured below), they can be destructive if they get bored. If you are looking for a couch potatoe they are not usually couch potatoes. Malamutes need lots and lots of excersise. They are famous for their ditch digging ability if you want a well landscaped yard as long as you want it landscaped as a mine field you will be fine. They will take over your house. They will counter surf and beg for your breakfast lunch and dinner. If you want a guard dog nope not one of those either. They are stubborn and bull headed yet smarter than you will think they are. They learn easily then just as easily say I know that not going to do it any more.

But, if you are looking for a great loving companion that will give you undying devotion that is the Malamute. They will be there for you through thick and thin. I have found that people who start out with one Malamute find that Malamutes are like Lays potatoe chips you can never have just one. There is no other breed of dog that is like a Malamute and once you have been owned by one you will not want another breed of dog.

Just remember a dog of any breed is for life not just for a short period of time. When you take on the ownership of a dog you take it on for it's entire life. They are not toys to be thrown away. They must be a part of your family. They must know they are loved. They are a responsibility if you are not ready for that responsibility do not get a dog of any kind. They are not to run loose, they are not to be thrown away, through thick and thin for better or worse in sickness and in health they are your responsiblity, and it is not one to be taken lightly. Dogs are the only creature that gives undying devotion you do not have to earn their love they give it freely and without reserve. Don't throw that trust and love away rejoice in it and know no matter what you do or who you are your dog will love you with it's dying breath.

 

Here is Sassy when she is blowing coat, if you are not ready for this much hair do not consider a Malamute as your pet because you will have hair every where. No house is complete without Alaskan Malamute hair.
